Yeah glad Burchill stuck with him starting and didn't go with most of us dropping him for White. Laughing

I unfortunately think we'll have to win 4 games to finish 8th, including the Cowden one.

9th is almost certain relegation with the player registration banned and us only have 13 players under contract. If the ban goes, I feel we'd give the playoffs a good go but without it will be seriously tough.

Falkirk fans getting touchy because we were time wasting? So what were they calling it when Jamie MacDonald was wanking around pulling his socks up the last time we played them even when they were comfortably winning?

Great result, gutted I couldn't make it but I hope it doesn't give us false hope. Let's not shite it at Cowdenbeath.

Great result. Really needed to win. I think the great escape is now on (If we win on Saturday).

We could win on Saturday & still be 3 points adrift as Alloa are at home to a Dumbarton side that has capitulated since beating us.

Aye they beat Falkirk after us. Only lost to Hibs because one of their players got a red card too, was 1-1 up until then.

Alloa haven't won in 8 games either so they aren't great shakes just now. Hopefully our cup demolition has still put a downer on them.

Simple fact is though if Alloa do beat Dumbarton then we may need something from the rangers and/or Hibs matches to get to eighth place (and that's assuming we get full points from Cowdenbeath; Raith and QoS which we are capable of doing but is still a bit of an ask).

However if we win on Saturday and Alloa lose then its really game on. Cowdenbeath are unlikely to get anything from Hearts whilst Alloa will be facing QoS at home (a difficult tie as they will be fighting for fourth place) and Hibs away. It's quite feasible that neither team will pick up another point before the end of the season clash between them both.

That would leave Cowdenbeath on 25 and Alloa on 20 with a further three point to play for.

Now if we'd already won against Cowdenbeath and Raith that would put us on 23 giving us a maximum total of 26 with a last day win over QoS (who by that time may well be settled in fourth place).

Obviously in this scenario we'd be wanting Alloa to win or draw their last match almost certainly putting us in eighth but Alloa would have nothing to play for so basically it could be better for Alloa to win against Dunbarton or QoS but not both.

Irrespective there is the chance that Cowdenbeath will win the Alloa encounter Giving them a potential score of 28 points meaning we need 11 point from our last 5 games - Phew.

And the unthinkable - losing to Cowdenbeath on Saturday means that the best we could hope for would be ninth place (unless of course we beat the rangers and Hibs)....

Shocked

I think it's better to just focus on the Cowden game and take it one game at a time, gets too complicated trying to look at all the permutations. Football is never that simple either, you usually get unexpected results popping up now and again, hopefully one of them is us beating Sevco or Hibs.

First target is getting off the bottom spot to get in the play offs so we still have a fighting chance, if we manage that then we can maybe look at what we need to do to get 8th place.

Trouble is getting off bottom spot this weekend relies on Alloa losing to Dumbarton. If that's so then they need to win at home to QoS which is probably more of a challenge if we want the best chance of getting to eighth.

My head hurts!!!!

This.

Get points for ourselves and the rest will take care of itself. Prob need to win at least 2 games just to see off Alloa. GD over them is worth a point in itself as all we need to do is get level with them.

Cowdenbeath 3 Dumbarton 0

Which was Cowdenbeath's first win in ages. I call that capitulation.

They only lost to Hibs because Hibs scored twice, the sending off may or may not have had a bearing on that; you can't possibly say that the only reason they lost was cause they had a man red carded. It could have just as easily spurred them on to greater efforts.

Aye, all we have to do is get points....up to Wednesday we'd won how many league games all season? 4 wasn't it? And we are now saying all we have to do is win.... if we pull off the great escape this season we will have hit at the very least the type of form that would secure a play off spot over a season. Frankly, if we stay up I will celebrate as if we had won the championship!

Dumbarton? No they have lost their last 2 games; they beat us then Falkirk & then got gubbed at Cowdenbeath & lost at home to Hibs. So current form is poor probably because they are safe. Same goes for Raith, otherwise I would have expected them to beat Cowdenbeath comfortably....bet your bottom dollar that Raith give us a harder game than they gave Cowdenbeath.

Aye but a good chance they wouldn't have lost as they'd just equalised and a few minutes later they got a man sent off then lost a goal right after that.

Anyhoo if you're sticking to them capitulating cause they lost 3-0 to Cowden then alloa also capitulated 4-0 to us and lost their next game against Hearts (a team on holiday mode), it's a capitulation fixture between them and Alloa. Laughing
