I read their Accies match thread on Caley online fans forum, mirrors his time at Livi with the Barca style shite trying to play it out of defence and getting mugged. Hope Burchill tells our players to stay in their half when their keeper has the ball and wait for him to roll it out to a CB.

Not good today. I think we tried to be way too clever in distribution and just seemed to always end up giving the ball away before it went anywhere worth watching. Both Hamilton goals came from ICT mis-passes

As against Motherwell and Celtic, the goals were of the soft variety. I'm all for the passing game, but there's a time and a place. Right now we have a makeshift team full of guys playing out of position. Why are we still trying to play like Barcelona? Almost every goal we've conceded recently has been self inflicted. Overplaying under pressure and turning over possession in a dangerous area. Today was no different.

Spooky

Deja vu anyone?

A very decent draw considering some of the potentially horrendous ones in there. Hopefully our form improves so we can give them a game.

Mixed views on this. It won't generate much in the way of revenue for the club but I feel Caley are there to be beaten especially since we have home advantage.

Maybe get a a decent money spinning away tie in the next round lol! Razz

A good cup run is just what we need to bring media attention focussing on good publicity for a change, which should get the fans coming to our games. Would also prob give our players confidence a boost for our league games like it did last season. Even better if we get 2 good cup runs going.

I hate John Hughes. Took over a good squad from a man who I believe to be a club legend and completely fucked with it. I'd imagine him and Collins tapped up Bollan's job, and our board were stupid enough to buy into it. He didn't care for Livingston, just wanted to put himself back in the shop window and left at the first opportunity leaving us in a mess. He gave us almost a year of utterly shocking football, and was too stubborn to change his rotten tactics and we've been in decline ever since. He never applauded the fans and bullied the players in pre-match warm-ups. As soon as he came in he bigged up our young players, presumably because he had a percentage in their sell-on fee, and talked about them playing for 'Celtic or Rangers' as if it were the pinnacle of any players career. His personality is beyond irritating and he has appalling teeth and a disgusting accent. He's a complete Hibs bastard. I hate him, as should every other Livingston fan and I'm gonna make sure the rotten c*** knows about it. Dunfermline away, September 2012 - what the fucking Christ was that? THE worst Livi performance of all time and it was all his fault. A team that should've been contending for a place in the SPL and he fucked it, by being a stubborn, mock Arsene Wenger-esq 'professor of football'. Absolute fucking nutjob.

I hate John Hughes and I hope we pump his Teuchtar diddies silly. 3-0 ought to do it.

P.s I know its quarter past 2 in the morning and I know what a couple of you are thinking and the answer is no: I'm not pished, just a very angry young man.

Agree with your sentiments re John Hughes. What you forgot to mention was the punting of the previous season's fan's Player of the Year (Bobby Barr) to East Fife. It is coming up for three years since that happened and I still get angry every time I think of it. Evil or Very Mad
He and Collins couldn't have cared less about Livi.

Fully expect Bobby Barr to play brilliantly against us for Morton and probably score too.

Never had any time for Hughes, disagreed with the whole scenario that saw Bollan sacked & Hughes brought in. Can't honestly say I hate him though, don't know him well enough for that but I hate what he did to our club.

Same old Livi will turn up against full-tme opposition. Can't see us getting past this one despite ICT struggling so far.

Ideally, this would be my team:

Gould

Gallagher Gordon Neill

Georgiev Gibbons Faria Duckrell

Pittman

Sheerin Shagz

2-1 to ICT. FG 24 mins.

Back 3 might be a good shout, Cub. Gallagher and Neil were easily 2 of the better performers yesterday and Gordon doesn't merit being dropped. Longridge and Millen have been poor all season. Just a little concerned we'd be caught out in wider areas, so may be tempted to play Longridge or even Sives and play Gallagher at RB - which is a shame as he's a CB all day long.

Hippolyte needs benched as does Cole, Spas would get in my team as would Faria. SAS as the front 2. This won't happen though. Buchanan will start as a lone striker, SAS on the bench and Hippolyte will sulk and look disinterested from the first whistle.

2-0 ICT, 38 mins. Hughes to behave like a dick.

The only real change in our starting 11 I'd like to see is the front two, White & Sheerin for Buchanan & Gibbons, I'm happy with everyone else that started in the Hibs game.

Or maybe keeping Gibbons in and resting Hippo for the Alloa game would be a good idea. That game is far more important than this one.

I don't think it matters who we put out; our last cup tie is so long ago now that the cup momentum we had has gone. We are in a rut & the Caley results have been better of late than the start of the season.

Livi 0 Caley 3

FG 15 mins, direct free kick, over the wall with DJ failing to get anywhere near it.

Is the Duck fit yet?

I'll go for the usual grinding out an ET winner, White to score when Sheerin comes on in ET, or maybe DJ will be the penalty king hero if it goes to penalty kicks.

2-1 Livi FG 67 mins.

Shot ourselves in the foot with Neill's attempted header back to DJ conceding our first goal, just can't afford to do that against any team let alone one in a higher division in a cup game. Actually got off with another bad mistake earlier when we passed it along our own back line and it got cut out by one of their players who ran in on our goal.

Real pity too cause after Caley started with crisp passing and being on top of us we settled into the game and were all over them for a good part of that half pummelling their goal. Shit defending of a set piece on the edge of our box and game over. Basically we played well enough in the attacking part of the game with some good efforts at goal but were just not good enough in defence.

Still think Sheerin deserves starts and thought he played well against Caley, gets shots off at goal and anything knocked to him sticks, def needs to start against Alloa.

Disappointing that we never made any of our domination in the first half count for anything. Two stupid goals to give away, we struggle to score one goal nowadays so two and then three were out of the question. Disappointed for Neill because I thought he played well against Rangers when he came and then on Saturday against Hibs, looked shaky and was all over the place at times. Gordon should come back in for him on Saturday, IMO.

Agree with LF re: Sheerin; most on here were gasping for him and White to get a good chance up front and IMO they didn't disappoint. Good first half from the pair of them but they faded as Inverness took control in the second half, but aye, Sheerin's work ethic and desire in particular is very refreshing. I'd like to see him and Buchanan on from the start on Saturday, I think they'd compliment each other well and we'd get the best out of Buchanan's running that way.

Over the piece, disapponting and really exposed our weak areas. Can't fault Burchill for setting up the team to have a go, and to be fair we pressed them with a brilliant intensity in the first half. Second half their quality shone through but if we win on Saturday I'll not be overly bothered about this one. Infuriating to a degree though that we never seem to give teams from a higher division a scare, always seem to struggle and I can't recall any time in the past decade we've come close.

Completely forgot about this until about 7 this evening when a mate asked me if I was going. You only have to look at the line-up to understand that Burchill hasn't a clue. If anyone says we played well etc etc then sorry but I ain't believing you.

It could be argued that we weren't good enough in attack either as we didn't score, however I tend to agree with you LF, we definitely were on top when they scored the 2nd which IMO DJ should have claimed as it crossed the goalmouth.

Only an excellent save prevented Glen from scoring with a header in the first half. And with Saints winning by a similar margin at Hunbrox it is certainly no disgrace to lose by 2 to a team from the division above.

I think Sheerin showed he is fit enough, but to my way of thinking he should have been the target man with Whiite doing the bulk of the running. Neill played well apart from the mis-header and being caught in possession on one or two occasions. Longridge is a handful going forward. Hippo and Pittman gave them problems and kept getting whacked for their trouble. Cole actually looked interested and put in a shift. Gallagher was ok. Millen always seems to lose possession after a decent bit of play. Front two worked hard. Glen improved as the game wore on.

I thought 2-0 was harsh at half time but was maybe about right over the 90.

Lexi away and listen to Chas & Dave, one of their songs is you to a T... "There ain't no pleasin' you"

Post by Liviforever on Tue Sep 22, 2015 11:15 pm

Actually think our first half is the best I've seen us play this season, was really entertaining good looking football and we absolutely hammered them for about 20 minutes of pressure on their goal. How the hell we didn't score I just don't know, just aint getting a break in front of goal. Good deliveries by Millen and both White and Sheerin had good tries at goal but one caught their keeper under the arm when he just spread himself and hoped for the best and another with a good header got cleared off the line.

Defending was terrible though and for all our good play we went in 2-0 down and Caley came out 2nd half and just happily played the ball around letting us chase after it and knackering ourselves out. Last 15 mins we were dead on our feet and their no 28 sub should've had another 2 when he was too quick for us turning and getting in on goal. He blew the first chance and hit the post with his 2nd, though anything more than the 2-0 would've been undeserved for them.

Funnily enough my mate was playing loads of Chas n Dave in the car on the way home from golf today and this was one of the songs that came on. I didn't enjoy it.

I reckon I'd be a bit more pleased if we:
Had more than 1 point from 7 league games
Weren't bottom of the league
Hadn't lost our last 4 games, scoring only 2 consolations
Could manage more than 2 attempts on target
Had a manager who knew his best team
Showed a bit of fight for an entire game
Didn't have a twitter man clogging up my twitter feed up by posting and retweeting shite puns about shite Italian food.

We'll lose on Saturday.

Aw definitely, he'll play Buchanan and Sheerin but they'll never get the ball because he'll play Hippolyte on the wing who'll get the ball and run around in circles with it then lose it. Then you'll have Darren Cole who'll be disco dancing in front of the back 4 and commit loads of daft fouls and head it 2 yards forward but 200 yards wide. You won't have a player who can get it forward and control the ball properly like Gibbons (POTY so far but DROPPED tonight) or Georgiev. So you'll have Faria and Cole doing their thing in the hole, aye and Hippolyte will be dancing about with it but doing nothing. But he might drop Faria and start Pittman, who won't have any support because Hippolyte is useless. Then he'll play Glen who doesn't work in a 4-4-2.And you'll have 2 full-backs, one who can't go forward and one who can't defend. Then he'll throw big Shags on and take Longridge off, and play him as a holding mid, and we'll be exposed at the back and concede a comedy goal. Basically it doesn't matter who you start, the team has no fluidity and doesn't work.

I know this cause I watch it every week. Livi are like an open book with loads of pictures and kids diagrams. Play a couple of wingers, a big striker and a couple of 6 foot+ centre halves and BOOM, the 3 points are yours.

Quite simply a financial disaster for us. With a crowd barely over 640 I doubt whether we even broke even for this one.
