Actually, win at Wembley and we are right in the mix. If we had played the right players we could conceivably have had maximum points, because there was nothing really to fear from either Lithuania or Slovakia. We needed a goal machine and we left him on the bench for most of both matches. Griffiths did more than Martin, Fletcher and Burke combined in his short time on the pitch.

If we can get the team right and actually play to our strengths we could conceivably get full points from the return matches with all 3 that we have played. We have a chance of something against England because they are not playing particularly well and surely Slovenia are beatable.

This is a group that will have teams picking points off each other all the time.

But laying aside the hypotheticals, I think you're right.

You were being unnaturally optimistic there Bertie, thank goodness you came to your senses by the end of your post. Laughing

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if we beat England because that's what we do, play shite against the teams we should be beating and win against the bigger teams. Strachan may even shock us and start Griffiths, dear knows he's went with every other striker bar him so far, may just sink in that he should give him a go.
