Livi v Hibs

Post by Liviforever on Mon Sep 14, 2015 2:42 pm

Home game so hope to feck we go 2 up front for this one, if we do then I have a feeling we can get something out of the game before we get down to business against Alloa and Dumbarton. A point would do me but no reason we can't get 3 if we have a front 2 with Sheerin either starting alongside White/Buchanan, or coming on with a decent amount of time left.

Would prefer Mullen to be a sub to come on in midfield with 15 mins or so too, and hopefully pop one in from a mazy run and strike from 25 yards.

Been wanting Gould to get a go but doesn't look like it's happening, I fear DJ playing in this game as he was guilty of gifting Hibs a goal in every game we played against them last season, can't afford any freebies to Hibs if we want a chance of getting something that's for sure.

Anyway here's hoping for a good performance and at least a point, an optimistic 2-2 draw. FG 27 mins.

We're the biggest bottlers in the league against this mob so defeat is inevitable.

3-1 Hibs. FG 8 mins.

Hibs. Dunno where to start with this lot, they're even more irritating than Livingston.

3-1 Hibs, 14 minutes. No Shags or Sheerin in the starting XI, shitebag tactics guaranted because Burchill thinks Hibs are a great team and should be pushing for a place in the Europa League instead of playing in the Championship. I'll probably be very angry and swear a lot during the game. It'll be pish.

I don't think anyone can be confident against arguably the 2nd best team in the league after the way we've played this season.

We won't get humped but it won't be pretty.

2-0 Hibs. FG 44 mins

Positive vibe coming from the management going into this game, doesn't look like it's damage limitation he's going for so here's hoping he goes 2 up front.

And while the former Celtic striker admits the visit of Hibs to Almondvale will be a tough proposition, he believes his side can pick up their first win of the 2015-16 season.

“People might see it as a ‘nothing to lose’ game but we’re at home and we want to start picking up points, no matter who comes here. We want to win football matches when we’re at home and we’ll be doing all we can to do that against Hibs.

“Everyone at this club believes we can get something out of the game.”

Well If he reads this site then he will be in no doubt that we all want the team to go with two up front.

Will he go back to two, let's hope so.

Possibly, they didn't know this site existed when I went down and asked them about doing the sponsor sheet in the reception, so at least they do now. Would be good if we could get the player sponsor going though as it would get The Livi Room in the match programs for Livi fans to see and should at least get more people reading the forum, and hopefully some signed up to join in posting. The more the merrier.

I'll pop in tomorrow to see where we have reached, prob need the ones that have contributed to dig into their pockets again if they can afford it and stick another £10 each to get to the target.

Hippo's Throw Ins

Post by Liviforever on Thu Sep 17, 2015 11:38 pm

Anyone else thinking we should be trying out some new moves in the training ground for these, it has gotten predictable now and everyone knows they just need to put some players on one of our CB's on the 6 yard line to stop him getting the flick on from the throw in. Was surprised we caught St Mirren cold with one as their manager must've seen us doing them when he was Dumbarton's manager.

He takes throw ins like corners so why not try a few moves to catch teams out, Keaghan used to drop off to get a corner put to him for a shot on the edge of the box, we could try that with the throw in as they wont expect it and will be marking Gallagher or Neill.

Also should try getting someone to run towards Hippo same as we sometimes do at a corner pretending we're taking it short, then throw it long into the box, it'll take two players out of the box and create some movement and confusion so everything isn't just static.

Basically just try a few new moves so it isn't so predictable for them to defend.

We could also try passing to guys in the same colour kit, running past guys in the other teams colours & kicking the ball very hard towards the net being guarded by the opposition goalie. Might get the home fans cheering a bit & if any of those actually go IN the net....

Yeah I stuck a tenner in but I believe it's still only sitting at £90. I do not have much cash monies this month but I'll certainly stick another tenner in at the next home game after pay day.

I thought we were a little unfortunate to lose. We posed them problems but as ever were not clinical enough with our chances. The ref was useless (nothing new there) and IMO it was never a foul for the free kick he gave them which turned into the goal.

The free kick itself was well taken but I said exactly what he was going to do based on the position of the wall and DJ himself. He was way too far to his left. Had he been central he would have had a chance of saving it regardless of which way the shot went.

Cummings is a diving wee git but he knows how to hold the ball up. McGeoch was the best player on the pitch.

Decent performances from Gallagher, Neill, Longridge, Gibbons and Pittman, reasonably good from Hippo, Glen and Buchanan. OK from Millen and Faria. I would have taken Faria off rather than Gibbons.

From the subs White tried hard but he and Buchanan don't link well, immediate improvement in White when Sheerin came on. Georgiev and Sheerin should have been on earlier.

Have a funny feeling there'll be people on here tempted to say we played well etc etc, which is just a sign of the times and shows how bad we really are. That was not a good performace. Gallagher, Neil, Gibbons and Buchanan played well but that was pretty much it. Hippolyte's performace was shocking, his attitude is disgraceful and I've been saying for weeks that he needs dropped. We did, however, look a bit more balanced without Cole. Hibs are a poor side, and didn't threaten us much other than a piece of quality from Henderson, who behaved like a snivelling wee fanny all game and needs a slap in the face. We had nothing up front today, started with one striker, and when shags came on he played as a holding midfielder.

Can't be bothered with our fuckery much longer, we're a shocking side with a poor attitude and a clueless manager.

In what way was Hippo's attitude a disgrace Lexi?

The Hippo I saw was trying to take players on, tracking back to cover for Longridge if the latter lost possession, making tackles in the defensive third, chasing balls into the attacking third. There were a couple of occasions when he didn't chase balls that were lost causes anyway, either because the Hibs defence had it covered and were letting it run out or because it bounced and as a result skited out of play. His runs didn't always come off but the same is true of better players than him. He was pulled up for a foul throw. I head someone in C3 berating him for being unable to control an awkward ball.

It really ticks me off when "fans" rip into their own players unjustifiably.

Oh...and when White came on he was originally playing behind Buchanan, hardly a holding midfield role. Now IMO he should have been up top with Buchanan but I am not convinced they have any kind of understanding whereas the two Jordies do as was seen when Sheerin came on. My main gripe against Burchill this season is his reluctance to start Sheerin

Buchanan did well being the lone striker, holds the ball up well and got a couple of shots in at goal, should've really scored the one cleared off the line though. I'd still have subbed him earlier and had Sheerin on to link up with White with a decent amount of time for him to do something. He immediately showed how strong he is on the ball holding off players to make passes around the box, just the player White needs to play off.

Decent enough effort from Livi but ultimately another nil points so onto the next game where we really have to get a win to start our climb from the bottom.

Looked totally disinterested. Was staring into mid-air a lot, didn't show any initiative to get forward or use any pace. Dribbled about with the ball a little bit at slow pace before either losing the ball or running into a brick wall and making a half-arsed pass to the nearest team-mate. All of my mates thought he had a poor game too, and we're usually Hippolyte fans - not this season though. The fact he was caught on camera before Ibrox last week basically saying he couldn't be arsed doesn't help matters much either.

White spent most of the game only just in the Hibs half, and was behind the ball a lot. I agree with your view on Sheerin, we should be starting with 2 attackers at home to Hibs everyday of the week.

Disagree with you on Hippo, not his best game but he usually has very little in the way of options when he goes on a run. I know nothing of the "being caught on camera" but he bust a gut to clear one off the line against Morton and was clearly gutted at the end of that game. Our biggest problem is cohesion, too often someone does well, makes a good run or move but has no pass on or gets crowded out, which is why I like the way the two Jordies link with each other. We do get some good team work but not much luck at the end of it, like Buchanan playing in Pittman only for the keeper to save well and then Buchanan's shot getting cleared off the line.

The reason White was just inside the Hibs half was because of the way we were playing, he should have been pushed up front instead of behind Buchanan.

Another positive for me today was that Gallagher looked like captain material, did a lot of organising and talking...and we didn't concede from open play, only from a dodgy free kick award and a dodgy DJ who can save pens but would be as well sitting in the stand for free kicks.

Just to clarify, when I mentioned "fans" ripping into players I meant during the game, they need our support during the game, we need to cheer them on when doing well and encourage them even more to up their efforts when something goes wrong. After the match, discussing performances on here, then IMO it's okay to say it as you see it. Identify who played well and who didn't, assess the manager's performance too...and BTW he was talking to players and making suggestions throughout, so I'm not having it that he just stands with his hands in his pockets.

First half we competed fairly well, pretty much matching Hibs man for man. However, they should've been two up had it not been for poor finishing.

As soon as Hibs scored it took the wind off our sails. Burchill should've put Sheerin and Shagz on at the same time and pin Hibs back but instead we panicked and lost any control of the game that we had. DJ needs to be dropped on the basis he can't communicate with his defence and has no organisational skill when it comes to set pieces, how long will it take before Burchill realises this? The ref was poor and had no consistency throughout the match. I don't like to believe it happens but it was very much an age old case of being biased towards the supposed 'bigger' team.

I have to agree that Hippo played poorly yesterday: Lacked any bursts of energy and only seemed to be going at a semi-pace. He never got past the first man when trying to take them on. Since the St Mirren games, he's really lacked the enthusiasm and energy and should have a spell on the bench.

Also, why wasn't rat boy booked for his celebration and/or full-time antics? Surely running half the length of the pitch and winding up home supporters is a straight yellow? It's happened a few times at Almondvale, I remember Martin Scott and Lewis Coult doing it in recent times yet it's never a booking. Shame because I was a few years above him at St Margaret's and he was a decent fella from what I remember, always wanted him to do well and make a career for himself but after that I hope he fails. Very much in the fuck off and die category now.
