ICT vs Livi

Post by Afro on Sat Dec 30, 2017 4:58 pm

A very tough game in prospect on Tuesday for us. Inverness seem to be as defensively solid as they come in this division, but conceded two to Brechin this afternoon - they did score three though, including the winner with 10 men. If they win here they are well in contention for the top four; a Livi win would put some daylight between them and us. I imagine as Penrice will be away back to Partick, so hoping for Byrne, Pittman and Keaghan in central midfield. Longridge did well against Dumbarton so would it be harsh to drop him. Apart from that, the team almost picks itself at the moment. Hopefully Boyd is in contention, could do with his creativity against a resolute defence I feel.

Wouldn't be averse to a point here, so 1-1, FG 26 mins.

A point would be good. We won't get one though.

Oh Dale, pity that didn't go in at the end, he would've had to have left like Dick Turpin if he'd scored it right enough. Laughing

That miss from Carrick is criminal. Hard to get on a player's back given he works so hard for the team but you can't help but feel if we had a more clinical striker available at the moment, we'd be a lot closer to the top of the division.

I said pre season if we had Buchanan i'd fancy us to be top 4 and maybe even challenge for the title, but finances dictate our squad so we are where we are. And tbh we're doing a lot better than we should be with the budget we have.
Hoppy tried to get a striker but he got gazumped by ICT, Dunfermline did the same to us earlier with Andy Ryan too, so it isn't easy bringing in players.

Is Buchanan doing anything special in the 3rd tier?

Not with Raith nope, too many cooks spoiling his goal scoring talent, at Livi he had lots of players, mainly Mullen, helping him be our main striker and goal scorer. Would still loved to kept him at Livi where he was part of a winning team/formula. Now we've lost both our main strikers.

I'll go for 1-1, first goal on 6 minutes.
