Livi v Raith

Post by Liviforever on Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:45 pm

This for me will be a good indicator on how our season will go, if we blow this chance of going into the top 4 then i'll be gutted as it would look like we wont be consistent enough to challenge for the play offs. However if we win then it's game on for a top 4 place.

We're still the dark horse flying under the radar but I think they'll all start to notice us if we move up to 4th, or even 3rd place.

3-0 Livi, FG: 27 mins.

Raif Rovers.

Can't wait to give Paul Watson abuse, he's such a VL cunt.

Liam Fox is so shit.

Imagine hijacking a transfer deal for Calum Elliot. Also signing Martin Scott and thinking it's a good bit of business.

All their fans wanked over that old geezer when he came out and said he didn't like the huns.

Remember when they used to boo Andy McNeil because he couldn't keep out a free-kick?

They're from Fife and sign loads of our rejects like Alan Walker. It also costs about £300 quid to get there on a train, so it's a pretty pish away day. They're from Fife (I know I've already mentioned it, but I hate Fife).

Most people in their town watch Ice hockey, which is a pishy North American sport.

They always have really dull kits.

Absolute diddy team, they're just an irritant. Don't want them to get relegated though because we're guaranteed 10/12 points off them.

8-0 to the Amber Machine.

You're on the ball there, Lexi. Actually can't stand that wee dug turd Watson and I still remember when he turned to us and celebrated after they won at their ground last season. So I hope White, Glen and the Hippo rip that boy a new arsehole.

Of all the teams in the league, I want to pump this mob the most with the amount of rejects they've got and the fact we've got a decent record against them.

3-2 Lions win. FG 17th minute.

They're a funny team, they can beat the PT teams no problem but have fallen to 4-0 defeats whenever they've played a FT team, so here's hoping we keep that up and hump them 4-0.

I dunno what it is about Raith, but I just can't take to them. Their fans seem a decent bunch and I was pretty chuffed when they beat Rangers last season in the Challenge Cup. But at that, I get a lot more out of us giving them a doing compared to other teams. Plus, they've got Elliot amongst their ranks.

3-1 Livi, FG 25 minutes.

Disagree that its a wonderful post; Ice Hockey is brilliant. Of the Fife teams I have more time for Rovers than the others & I have a number of very good friends that are Fifers.

Here I go again with crazy predictions 3-0 Livi FG 5 mins.

However I really feel we can win this game and go into third place in the league as Hibs will beat Queens too.

3rd in the league after 6 games would be excellent.

Yeah even a draw with QoS and Hibs would do to put us 3rd if we win our game.

Last season we were sitting bottom after 5 games and out of both cups when McGlynn took over, amazing difference this season, esp with the big turnover in players pre season.

Prob would be better holding my enthusiasm back until after this game right enough. Laughing

Really looking forward his game after last weeks win, my view of Jordan White has changed after the last few games he is the tall front target man we have missed for some years and a great poacher. Gary Glen a tireless runner and Keaghan a real worker, team looks really good with a varied bench with plenty of good options. On last weeks performance's by both teams we should win easily!

Well, I got the FG right on the money according to Sky sports but that doesn't make the result any easier to take. Neither side looked particularly good today. We didn't work their keeper enough, all his saves being basic stuff; DJ made two superb saves in the 2nd half, the pen & the late shot when they tried to hit us on the break.

Hippo gave us a bit more but sadly not enough. Once again we blow the chance to break into the top 4 & have to start looking over our shoulders at the bottom 2. Very disappointing.

Apart from the last 10 minutes when we threw the kitchen sink at them, it was an absolute horse dung performance. For the first time this season we didn't look like a team, more like eleven players plucked out of nowhere and playing like it was only a friendly. Couple of things to take note from the game:

1) Craig Sives and Callum Fordyce are too alike as centre backs with their limited abilities. The sooner Gallagher or Mensing return, the better. We need either of Mensing's organisation and influence or the ability and calmness of Gallagher. Without one of the two, it's clear we have a difficult weak spot in the middle of defence.

2) After a strong start, I think McKenna's lack of experience at this level is starting to show and Mullen should be given a chance back in the starting line up. McKenna only turns up at his best when the team is performing well and we're winning. Against Hibs, Dumbarton and Raith today, he really struggled when the pressure was on the team and it shows on his performance.

3) Miles Hippolyte needs to start games now. He's the closest thing we have to a player who isn't afraid to take on players and be that creative spark every time requires. As much as I've seen good signs from him when he's came on, David Robertson isn't the player to do this. The Hippo needs to be given the faith and freedom like with Scougall before to have a license to do what he does best.

We play like that against Aberdeen and Hearts and we'll get embarrassing scorelines. Raith done what Alloa couldn't do and take their chance when they had it. Comical refereeing at times but that's no excuse in my opinion. Time to focus on a massive week and put some pride back into the team.

Just like last season we bottle it when we've a chance of going into the top 4, terrible performance. Agree with LiviCub, would start Hippolyte, as he at least takes players on and gets past them and opens up defences in the final third. Also the most clinical player we have, he very rarely hits wild shots at goal, can't actually remember him wasting a shot.

As bad as we were we had a few good chances to score, free header at the back post and a couple of wild shots inside their box, we're either clinical in games or couldn't hit a barn door, doesn't seem to be a happy medium with Livi.

Have to disagree with the view about the Hippo, he is not a team player at all. I don't think he should start as he only plays to make himself look good and not for the benefit of the team. There is something about his attitude I don't like at all. To compare him to wee Scougall is night and day as the wee man had flair but he would make decent passes too and was a team player with a great attitude. I really agree with all the points that Livi Cub made apart from the Hippo one.

My view is that we need to go 2 up top a lot earlier in games and create a bit more on the deck. If we keep persisting with the three behind White then I would make 2 changes for the next game and my three would be Mullen Glen and Burchill but hey it's all about opinions and it just goes to show how difficult a managers job can be at times.

We have some great games coming up Aberdeen,Hearts,Rangers then the Petrofac semi-final so I'm going to enjoy them although not going to Aberdeen I'm looking forward to them all. I've been impressed by the work rate and desire of the squad and the togetherness of the squad as a unit just have a niggling wee doubt as I mentioned earlier about one player.

Does his wanting to take players on makes him look selfish, that's what I like about Hippo, would rather see him doing that than playing safe and making a pass as when he gets past a player he causes panic in defences. He's set up goals too though so don't see that about him at all, his appearance against Hearts for instance, he scored then set up a goal in the space of about 5 minutes.

I think we've lacked a cutting edge in some games, Dumbarton and Raith spring to mind (wasn't at Peterhead but from how long we took to score and the chances we reportedly squandered that game too) and Hippo is very clinical so that's why I'd like to see him have the full 90 mins.

I bigged up Burchill when he came on as I thought he linked up attack in a couple of games I've seen him recently, then he comes on and blasts the ball 10 feet over the bar and didn't get into the game at all.

Not sure about Mullen now, was hoping he'd progress this season but he's looked out of his depth in games so far, doesn't seem to have awareness of players position and gets caught on the ball too often because of that, takes too much time looking around rather than instinctively know where a player is. I like his energy and commitment but he's losing possession too many times in the games I've seen him start this season. Perhaps it was too early giving him regular games.

Agree about Burchill constantly subbing himself on. At the end of last season I held the view that he'd be used in times of crisis (I.e. a major striker shortage) and would be at the club in a largely coaching based role. He's well passed it at this level, and is the kind of player who you'd see rolling out in the juniors. Had a good moan to my mate for at least 2/3 minutes when I saw Burchill getting ready on the touchline. I still think with a bit more game time and experience, Mullen may become a decent player, but he's lacking confidence at the moment, IMO. In the game against Hibs he showed some good touches and movement, and a more experienced player would have scored the chance he had - resulting in the game being leveled at 2-2. Looked sharp and got a goal in the Cowdenbeath game too, so there's certainly the potential for goal threat there. Surely a more beneficial option than Burchill...

If I'm honest I'm not sure what I make of Hippolyte. As EL will till you, I was really excited by him in the Dunfermline game in pre-season. He needs to play further up though, as too often you'll see him shift it about, which looks quite nice, but 90% of the time he doesn't find a pass, or will lose possession. His finishing looks the best in the team though, and has the most powerful finish I've seen of any Livi player in a while. I'd start him as an out and out striker at Tynecaslte and see what he has to offer.

I think it's an ego thing with Burchill. It's not like Ogleby or Mullen are bad players and he's just taking their chances away. Furthermore, it's a youngster that can't make the bench because of it.

Wasn't there yesterday so can't comment but I'm really disappointed we've only picked up 3 points from a possible 9 from what were fairly easy games on paper. I'm also £5 down to a Raith fan at work, wah. Going to have to pull something special out somewhere or we'll be caught up by the other teams.

Yeah hopefully we'll up our game for the big teams or we'll drop down a few places and be right in the relegation play off scrap. Both Hearts and The rangers have dropped points to PT teams so isn't impossible to take something against them. Not confident at all though.

Plenty to take issue with here, but will do that when not on the phone.

Although I will take one off my list - EL, Ogleby not being a bad player?? He's the perfect embodiment of a fucking terrible player.

Anyway, more to come later. Bet you cats cannae wait...
