Livi v The Rangers Programme

Post by Liviforever on Mon Oct 06, 2014 3:56 pm

McDougall has apologised to Sevco for any offence it caused them. http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/livingston/livingston-chairman-apologies-to-rangers-1-3563787

Livingston chief Gordon McDougall has apologised to Rangers after the Ibrox club took exception to what they described as “outrageous and entirely unacceptable” comments made about them in Saturday’s matchday programme.

However, Rangers intend to make a formal complaint to the SPFL. A club statement said: “The content written about the football club and our players was outrageous and entirely unacceptable.”

Personally don't see anything wrong with it, looks accurate to me, well apart from them leaving out the THE in front of Rangers. Rangers were liquidated.

Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing. Sevco can fucking do one, horrible mob. Can't wait for these utter utter cunts to go bust again. I have absolutely no friends or family who support this shower, no fucking wonder. Hate all these cunts.

Are they going to apologise for how their fans conducted themselves?

Few words in a program (that were true) gets a big reaction but fighting with stewards/police, singing sectarian songs and causing trouble outside the ground gets nothing. Says it all about that horrible club.

I wish we hadn't sounded so bloody subservient in our apology. "please come back, we need your money, we'll be good next time promise". A simple line about the programme not necessarily representing the views of the club, but we apologise for any offence inadvertently caused. That would have done.

I should add that we shouldn't have had to, but hey - those fans of the club that play at Ibrox who were offended have to get one suppose. I know plenty of their support who couldn't give a shiny shite WHAT other clubs say. And why should they?

I saw some twitter feed from a Sevco fan on one of their supporters bus laughing at a 14 yo boy spewing and shitting himself after drinking a bottle of wine on the bus. Has pics of the boy looking ill too. So much wrong with that but it's all a big laugh.

Much more serious that our programme but nothing in the media investigating it. http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/social/a-14-year-old-rangers-kid-puked-crapped-himself-on-an-away-bus-after-drinking-too-much-wine/

The most seriously offensive thing on Saturday was the mob confronting the stewards & police. Haven't seen anything in the media about that though...could be wrong but I haven't seen it.

Aye and i haven't seen the The Rangers chairman apologise to Livingston fc for their arsehole fans singing sectarian songs and causing trouble inside, and outside our ground. Yet McDougall felt the need to apologise for any offence our programme caused their fans.

That's what Scottish club football is all about though. The media and horrible cunts who follow sides like Rangers bully the smaller clubs into things like this over absolutely nothing. The biggest crime committed on Saturday was that of those filthy fucking h*n bastards who spouted utter bile and attacked working people. Nobody bats an eyelid at their hooliganism in he 21st fucking century, but they're all up in arms over absolutely fucking nothing. Can't believe some of the morale high ground taking wank I was reading from Rangers fans across the internet. Absolutely fucking massive disgusting orc bastards. Hope we give any of the cunts who turn up next time a fucking shite time. Get them handled in by the police, escorts everywhere, no catering or programmes and charge them 60 quid a fucking ticket.

Nothing I hate more than a fucking Rangers fan.

You will hate a lot of your own players then pal cos I'm sure some of them will be fans.

The irony it is attitudes like yours that are as equally unacceptable, so please simmer down young man.

The programme was a disgrace, should not have been written , we as a club need all the money we can get and to annoy the support of a club who can supply the most money to us is daft in the extreme.

There was an incident in the corner which was also a disgrace but the vast majority of fans behaved themselves and I'm sure brought a tidy sum into the club. To then have talks of boycotts of our next game because of what was written in the programme was financial suicide and an apology had to be made.

We may not like Rangers ,Hearts , Hibs or even Celtic if we draw them in the Scottish, but if these clubs come to our ground and it helps us financially surely we don't need to be taking cheap shots in our programme regarding their club.

Anybody who is a Rangers fan has made a truly terrible life choice, and as such has condemned themselves to being a bit of a cunt. Whether it be a wee cunt, or a truly massive one.

Livingston have done nothing wrong. They haven't printed any inaccuracies or anything remotely offensive, simply outlining Rangers' (quite hilarious) demise. If stupid Rangers fans choose to be offended and boycott Livi, then that's their problem and not ours. A thousand or so mingin newco basturts not coming through the gates won't have a disastrous long-term effect on the club.

It was a silly thing to do in our programme but I will say no more on this subject as feelings run high for some reason about Rangers.

I think calling it a disgrace is the wrong choice of words, esp when you're also describing the behaviour of the The Rangers fans using the same terms, singing sectarian songs and causing a disorder with the police is in no way comparable to upsetting opposition fans with the truth about their former clubs demise.

Agree it was a major own goal financially affecting the club if they boycott our next game though. Even the programme sales would've made a tidy profit, that alone would prob have come to more than most opposition fans spend on their visit to Almondvale/EAE, if about 1,500 of the 5,000 (not believing our att figures BTW) bought one that would be 37 and a half grand.

From a fans pov it is amusing winding them up so much, but it wasn't wise and has hurt our club. I loath that the club is depending on their money this season though and I feel our principles and dignity are being set aside for their money, which is really the whole cancerous problem of Scottish football that panders to the old firm and continually turns a blind eye to their fans behaviour home and abroad, occasionally handing out token fines to look authorative. The old and new club has bullied everyone with the same threat of damaging Scottish football financially, oldco had far too much power and along with Celtic vetoed anything that would make it fairer and more even playing field. The best thing that has happened for our football in this country was Rangers liquidation, it broke the old firms control of the game.

I could go on and on about them but I think you get the gist of how I feel about them. Laughing

Aye, not having that crowd figure either. Reckon there was a good 7K there on Saturday. Livi end was almost sold out, and pretty sure the west stand takes about 3K.

Aye but it upset them and they've already bullied the footballing authorities into allowing them keep their history from oldco Rangers and refuse to believe they are a new club. Because they can intimidate everyone they get their way but other teams fans know the truth and wont bend to their lies and delusions.

In fact the power of the fans put pressure on clubs to do the right thing and make sure newco started from the 3rd div, I'm pretty sure they'd have bent to the will of newco otherwise.

Have to agree with what LC's put so eloquently here. The programme doesn't contain any factual inaccuracies, did Dundee United apologise when they said they were playing The Rangers for the first time a few seasons back? Did they fuck.

The fact we've apologised for offending anyone is ludicrous to the extreme. As others have pointed out, it's a different story for them when they travel across Scotland, chanting their bile, causing aggravation and just generally being arseholes. The SFA had the chance to eradicate one of the most backwards-thinking, horrible institutions in the country and they shat it big style. Hopefully their over-inflated sense of entitlement tips them into the financial abyss and they are consigned to the history books.

ETA: All this shite about a boycott; come on. Any sensible Rangers fan (and there are a few, I'll not dispute that) will realise this a shitstorm brought about by the fucking knuckle draggers amongst their support. Livingston FC should not be bending over backwards to appease these bastards because the board (or whatever's left of it) can see the pound signs.

I'm with Smithy on this one. No point trying to wind them up when we were well on our way to cashing in again later in the season. What he wrote may or may not have been true but it was the tone used that was completely unneccessary. It was a pointless battle Andy was never going to win, shown by the fact they've now twitter stalked him and pulled up on him saying "hun" from a tweet a year ago.

I'm sure whether they boycott or not, the programme will lose a huge chunk of revenue from the next home game and it's his own fault.

Well if there are threats and abuse against the guy[u] I sincerely hope the authorities have been informed. I also hope the club will do anything they can to help the guy. This is getting way out of hand. The authorities need to grow a pair and show these people they do not run the game in Scotland.

Same thing happened over their battle to get into the SPL/1st div, intimidation and threats to people and their families, absolutely vile behaviour from their fans. They are nothing but bullies and it is rife throughout the club and fans.
